In recent years, the public has been led to believe that extreme Islam is only a tiny percentage of the violent terror attacks in Europe. Official data illustrating the amounts of terror attacks carried out by Islamic extremists are rare indeed.
Of course, these charts don't tell us the whole truth. For example, their numerical nature means they equalize sending an envelope with harmless white powder (posing as anthrax) which led to zero casualties, with a newsroom massacre that left 12 dead and at least 11 wounded. This equivalence is both factually false and morally repugnant. it is high time we start counting the real numbers, the ones written in the blood of victims:
As shown above, the amount of fatalities caused by Islamic extremism is by far greater than any other motivation for terror attacks in Europe. A comparison of the the charts above will show that Islamic terrorism is the most 'economical'; they clearly get the most bang for their buck...
Speaking of economics, recent years have brought on a disturbing increase in "Financial Jihad"; the term was coined by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qardawi, the spiritual father of the Muslim brotherhood. Qardawi explained the strategy of "Financial Jihad" in a rare interview to the BBC in 2006;" I like to call it Jihad with Money, because God has ordered us to fight our enemies with our lives and with our money." As such, Qardawi believes that Muslims have a religious obligation to harm the Western economy.
Qadrawi is not alone. Among those preaching the importance of financial jihad is another Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader - Hamud bin-Uqla Al-Shuaibi, who claims that financial sacrifice may be even more important than self-sacrifice. He also heads the "Union of Good", a collection of some 50 Muslim Brotherhood organizations in the Western world that specialize in raising funds under the disguise of legitimate charities and delivering it to terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda, Aksahum and Hamas. The "Union of Good" has been banned by the US and many European countries for having been a significant element in funding terror attacks.
A very real problem is that similar financial jihad organizations are still operating (even after countermeasures by Western governments); one frightening reminder is "Aksahum" (formerly known as "the al-Aqsa Foundation") which operates in Belgium. This international Islamic organization operates under the disguise of a charity foundation. Their former base of operations was in Germany until it was closed by the German authorities in 2002. Aksahum has branch offices across the world including in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Pakistan, Yemen and South Africa. The al-Aqsa Foundation was formerly designated as a terrorist organization by the UN, EU, Australia, Canada, the UAE, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Without too much fuss (or imagination), the organization simply changed its name and moved its base of operations to a new office in Belgium, while continuing to operate uninhibited to raise cash to fund terror and create a fertile environment for extreme Islam right under our noses!
